Oracle Team USA Wins America’s Cup World Series!

The America's Cup is one of the most exciting and prestigious yacht races on earth, and this year, for the second time, the Oracle Team has been victorious! The Oracle Team USA won both titles at the America's Cup World Series in San Francisco, battling to the finish in Match Racing (Oracle Team USA Coutts) and Fleet Racing (Oracle Team USA Spithill). Pacific Plastic Surgery Group is proud to have served as the official plastic and hand surgeons for the team and we are looking forward to October 3 – 7, when Fleet Week takes place in San Francisco.

History of Oracle Team USA

The Oracle Team was founded in 2000 by founder Larry Ellison, and their first win was the in the 33^rd America's Cup in 2010 when they defeated the Swiss defender Alinghi. The skipper of the Oracle Team, James Spithill, was the youngest skipper to ever achieve victory in the America's Cup that year. In this year's race, there were some tense moments when Oracle Team USA Coutts and Oracle Team Spithill collided. Although the two skippers are friends on dry land, once on the water, all bets are off, as the collision made clear! Coutts prevailed.

In one year, on September 7, 2013, America's Cup defender will be lined up against four challenging teams: Artemis Racing, Emerates Team New Zealand, Luna Rossa – Swordfish or Team Korea in the 1^st race of the 34^th America's Cup in San Francisco.

The Oracle yachts have broken records for speed and have a unique design. These are 90/90 foot trimarans with a 223 foot wingsail, the largest wing to have been built for a yacht of this type.
